Dubai is set to introduce its inaugural floating pedestrian bridge in Al Mamzar alongside a 24/7 night beach in Deira, as part of a Dh355 million initiative to enhance Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 public beaches.
The Higher Committee for Urban Planning and Well-Being revealed that these projects, covering a total of 5.7km (4.3km at Al Mamzar and 1.4km at Jumeirah 1), are expected to be completed within 18 months.

IMPLEMENTATION
The Committee stated that the projects align with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasizing the enhancement of Dubai's public beaches to meet global standards. Implementation is under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Committee highlighted plans for significant infrastructure upgrades to transform these beaches into world-class and appealing destinations.
MASTERPLAN

The enhancement of public beaches in Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 is part of Dubai's overarching strategy, in line with the Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches, Dubai Economic Agenda D33, Dubai Urban Plan 2040, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. These initiatives aim to position Dubai as a premier city for living, working, and tourism, solidifying its status as a top global beach destination.
The line with Dubai's sustainable development goals and climate change adaptation strategies, these beaches will undergo elevation to boost their resilience against climate change impacts—a critical issue for coastal cities worldwide. Over half a million cubic meters of beach sand will be utilized based on detailed studies to safeguard the emirate's beaches. The project, carried out with safety protocols, will maintain partial public access to the beaches.

ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE

The enhancement initiative aims to increase night swimming beach lengths by 56% (450 meters), expand cycling tracks by 285% (15.15 km), and running tracks by 125% (11 km). Additionally, facilities for individuals with disabilities will be incorporated following the Dubai Qualified Environment Code (DQEC) and global best practices.
